[mkgmap-dev] Observations with addresses in England

From Ticker Berkin rwb-mkgmap at jagit.co.uk on Thu Apr 13 12:50:08 BST 2023

Hi Frank

Some quick comments:

1/ Whatever you need to do to make it run on old versions of Java.

2/ I've always used the pre-build bounds-latest.zip file from
   https://www.mkgmap.org.uk/download/mkgmap.html
   which redirects to the site you mention.
   This global file is designed to avoid the problems you experienced.

3/ in {style}/inc/address, I replace:

mkgmap:city!=* & mkgmap:admin_level8=*
 { set mkgmap:city='${mkgmap:admin_level8}' }
mkgmap:city!=* & mkgmap:admin_level7=*
 { set mkgmap:city='${mkgmap:admin_level7}' }
mkgmap:city!=* & mkgmap:admin_level9=*
 { set mkgmap:city='${mkgmap:admin_level9}' }
mkgmap:city!=* & mkgmap:admin_level10=*
 { set mkgmap:city='${mkgmap:admin_level10}' }

with:

mkgmap:city!=* & mkgmap:admin_level10=*
 { set mkgmap:city='${mkgmap:admin_level10|subst:" CP=>"}' }
mkgmap:city!=* & mkgmap:admin_level9=*
 { set mkgmap:city='${mkgmap:admin_level9}' }
mkgmap:city!=* & mkgmap:admin_level8=*
 { set mkgmap:city='${mkgmap:admin_level8}' }
mkgmap:city!=* & mkgmap:admin_level7=*
 { set mkgmap:city='${mkgmap:admin_level7}' }
mkgmap:city!=* & mkgmap:admin_level6=*
 { set mkgmap:city='${mkgmap:admin_level6}' }

which works much better for GBR

Regards
Ticker
