[mkgmap-dev] SEVERE log messages from housenumber2 r3471

From Gerd Petermann gpetermann_muenchen at hotmail.com on Mon Feb 23 16:30:42 GMT 2015

Hi Thorsten,

I've committed r3475 as a work around for these problems.
The problem cases are more or less similar:
Many (> 50) nearly random addresses are assigned to one small part of the road.
Typically this happens because they are only connected to the road
via unnamed foot ways or service roads, samples:
http://www.openstreetmap.org/way/60838113

http://www.openstreetmap.org/way/127718589#map=18/50.01873/14.36437
http://www.openstreetmap.org/way/25464597

(even more complex because the algo tries to move the numbers
between the two roads)

The current algo is not very effective here, it produces a lot of these
zero length intervals, each containing only a few numbers.
I am looking for a better one that detects the minimum number of intervals.

Maybe mkgmap should try to find any routable unnamed road which is only connected to
the named road and is also close to this bunch of numbers?
These roads could then be named to allow better address search.

Gerd
