[mkgmap-dev] pebkac - index not working

this is probably me doing something wrong, but i can't figure out what 
is it :)

generating garmin image with, for example :

--mapname=1234 --description=Latvia-2013.01.01 --country-name=Latvia 
--country-abbr=LV --route --remove-short-arcs --add-pois-to-areas 
--index --gmapsupp

the resulting map works great in vista hcx and nuvi 50, but address 
search does not work - nothing is found at all.

if searching for nearby towns/cities, they are found properly, though.

using mkgmap-r2337.

what am i doing wrong ?
