If you are on OS X or linux you can use "curl" - example:

curl --location --url
"http://download.geofabrik.de/osm/europe/germany/nordrhein-westfalen/muenster.osm.pbf"
--output
"/Volumes/OneTouch4/Freizeitkarte-Entwicklung/source/Kartendaten_Freizeitkarte_Muenster.osm.pbf"
