I did take a look at this some time ago. I noted that there were a lot of dependencies (such as imagemagick) which could cause troubles. Instead I used the source code to help me understand the TYP file format: I used this knowledge to write a small Perl script which changes the Family and Product IDs of a given TYP file.

Based on this experience, it may be advisable for you to also create your program "from scratch", using the http://ati.land.cz/ program as a reference.
