I tested the patch, and noticed the same thing on my eTrex. The
problem is even worse though, because I am using a tiled map of
Germany. I have to choose from a long list of identically named map
tiles. (Only the series name of the complete map is displayed.)

So far, I have not been able to get my device to choose the OSM map
over the base map by default.
