The etrex does exactly the same

On the etrex, if the road is associated with a city+region, the city
and region name are shown in the "map info" box when you scroll through
the list of road names during search.

But I agree, it's better to keep the /cityname suffix for road names so
that you can tell their location if the nuvi won't show the city info.

You have to give the user the option of using the feature or not - I
think that should be so for any non-fundamental capability of mkgmap.
