please read the comment in the link, the tag is used to improve long distance routing.

So, this tag doesn't have any effect for now, right?

But, what is its future purpose? Would perhaps increase the class of the highways set with this tag?

I did not document the tag because it is not evaluated in the java code.

Hi Gerd,

Sorry If I missed the discussion about the tag "mkgmap: fast_road", but I did not see anything about this in the manual and neither searching the net.

I became aware of this tag by downloading the mkgmap 3993 and analyzing the changes in the standard "line" and "relation" files.

What is the pratical result/behavior of this tag in the routing?
