BTW I was wrong, Mapsource/Basecamp shows only the first letter in capital, the rest in lower case (Ijsselmeer)
so --lower-case only works well on the modern devices and not in Mapsource/Basecamp. 
So this issue could only be solved by Garmin ;-)
