[mkgmap-dev] gmapsupp visible in Basecamp

From Minko ligfietser at online.nl on Sat Oct 22 08:54:59 BST 2011

Hi Klaus,

I was curious if and how it worked, because Garmin is (probably) going to deliver all its maps this way in the near future. With some products it's already the case, like the official Garmin Benelux cycling map, no installer, no DVD, just a map on muicro SD card. On the Dutch GPS forum there are already people complaining why the other maps are not working in Basecamp while they plug their GPS into the computer!

So for convenience, it should be an option to look at, no need to install any maps on the computer anymore. Problem now is, how to get rid of the transparency of the OSM maps when we set the MS flag to zero (to make it visible in Basecamp while you have your OSM map on your GPS (or MicroSD card) and it is plugged into your computer.

Op the GPS.nl forum someone already found a workaround by making the (imho worthless basemap) emtpy, but this is for a user with not much computer knowledge already one step too far (it is easier to install the maps on the computer).
