I just tried it out with a map created with rev 1260 - so before the
reverse index implementation. and it DOES WORK - at least so far I can
tell (this is exporting with Mapsource 6.13.7)

1. I used the same gmapsupp.img on my Vista HCx and going to find -->
cities --> find by name I can find all cities and they pop up by name
completion
2. Recheck with identical map but deleted mapset00_mdr.img from registry
- cities --> find by name --> I can only find cities present in the
basemap (american) - not in my tile of Austria. So I do assume the
search index in step 2 must have been created correctly, if it fails
when not having the mdr registerd in Mapsource.

I don't know where the difference lies as I do assume you had the mdr
well registered in Mapsource too. Somehow a bit strange or?
